Default another strange email

So I keep getting odd little emails from "NCSoft Support", most of which i delete

This time I got one that says

"Your NCsoft email verification code is: xxxxxxxx

If you have already completed registration, please log in to "NCsoft Account Management" at XXXXXXXXXX and visit the "Account Profile" section where you can verify your e-mail address.

If you have any questions about the registration process, you can visit the Support Center at http://help.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/ncsoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php."

Is this legit or no? Sry, I'm really getting paranoid. why would they suddenly ask me to verify my email?

Basically, ignore ALL e-mails from any game company. If it's important, it will also be on the company's site.

you could of course forward the email to support it might be of some use to them in cutting down such emails.

Not of course to any link on the email just contact support in the normal way.

Never. Ever. Ever. EVER! Listen to any of the emails.

If the company has something to say they will post it on the forums, their website, the log-in screen and any other important place where mass amounts of Guild Wars players hang out.

I've been getting emails lately about my WoW and Aion accounts. Of course, I don't even own the games, but phishers will try anything. I don't know of any game company that emails you directly except for their "News" messages that tell you about upcoming releases and promotions, etc., after you have signed up to receive that. So the best thing to do is delete such "account" messages without even opening them.

I've been getting emails from WoW out the ass over the last week or so. I don't even own a World of Failcraft account. :\

Here's just 2 of them:

You can 'fake' the return address of e-mails you send. They don't want you to respond to the e-mail but go to a phishing page hyperlinked in the e-mail.

There are only two types of legitimate email you will receive from ncsoft regarding guild wars. One is the rarely sent out newsletter, the other is responses from support if you have an active ticket. If you didn't ask support for help, they will not send you an email. Delete anything else that supposedly comes from ncsoft or anet, it is a scam.

Hackers bounce (forget the technical term and way they do it) their emails off of NC's email servers to make them look more legit. Basically, unless YOU change YOUR password or YOU change email's, do NOT pay any attention to these emails at all. Laugh at them and then delete.

Welcome to the Internet, believe it or not these kind of emails are common. If you don't think so, than you are new to email.

I had tons of fun sending some freinds of mine emails from [email protected] xD

but yeah...not hard to fake (edit: a) return address...

I personally would use a [email protected] as my email...but to many people know the actual support email address and would know its fake :\

That's not paranoid, it's common sense mixed with a healthy dose of scepsis.

I never get these emails. Not once. Apparently, because I have less than 3 Ectoplasm, no Obsidian Armor, all of my miniatures dedicated, never farm and have less than ten characters on only one account, I'm not worthy of being told these things.

It was shortly after this release,

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/2...t10439435.html

that I started getting the phishing emails. Since that week, I get 2 or more emails a day. All go to junk box, but I still take a peek now and then, to find the posted above.
